If I would say that a frog can be an interesting creature, you may beg to disagree. But as you read on, you’ll realize why I consider frogs as fascinating animal. - Frogs are amphibians which means they can inhabit both in land and in water.
- They cannot thrive in ocean, sea or any form of salt water though. They are also cold-blooded.
- A frog has long hind legs and webbed feet which they exploit for swimming and jumping.
- Did you know that frogs can camouflage themselves and alter their color that matches their environment?
- When frogs are underwater, a transparent eyelid (nictitating membrane) protects their eyes.
- Frogs have extended sticky tongue which they use to grab their prey. They usually prey on small insects such as cockroaches, flies. Bigger ones can also prey small mammals, reptiles, birds and other species of frogs.
- One amazing fact about frogs is that they can leap up to twenty times their body length in one jump.
- The biggest known frog is the Goliath frog, measuring about more than 30 cm, while the smallest is the Brazilian species which measures less than a centimeter.
- Frogs can lay up to 4,000 eggs at once.
- This amphibian doesn’t have to drink water. It can absorb water with the help of its skin.
